Generation-X by some, Slackers by others. For too many years we have allowed our tiny generation to be split by differing economic goals or perceptions of others. Some hung out in coffee shops, smoking cigarettes and writing poetry. Others managed to become data programmers with several cars and their own houses. But this does not make us any less the same generation. We DO have similar goals. As time has proven (even those who have full time jobs) we proceed toward generational goals. We need to reconvene to get a generalized agenda for the upcoming years.
As we have moved into a new era, I recommend that we absorbed the title of slacker and combine it with the Generation X, so that instead of being Gen-xers, or X’ers, we can be gen(sla)x… or maybe not.
Baby Boomer professionals have professed a need to hand over or to teach the Boomer Babies (heretofore known as Generation Y or even Millennials ) what needs to be done. gen(sla)x has yet again been ignored. So let us rise up as Generation Slacker Affiliates to produce a better world.
